Segment: People who own/run hospitals
I went to the local NCH and asked about certain members on the board of trustees. I was able to meet with three of them and the allowed me some time to ask questions. The members think I have something special on my hand. One of them asked me if I was already in the works with the service I'll be "providing" because she'd love to talk to the CEO and other corporate officers. I advised that trustee that this was simply for a project and not something serious... yet. The trustees told me that they've been very busy with issues regarding security measures at the hospital since the suicide last month. It's times like those where security has to be ready to go because you're never sure about what can happen inside certain patient's minds. They're looking at various methods of protection for the hospital and its other branches. One trustee told me he's looked researched security systems and their effectiveness online. He also mentioned he's compared that the effectiveness of certain methods of security like fingerprint scans.
I give the trustees props for looking at such technological forms of security like fingerprint scanners a look because we usually don't associate them to being open to new technology. I think that those things definitely strengthen security but can't prevent specific situations. They also cost a lot of money to implement and can't be given other tasks outside of security. I think my method of security is better and hopefully finds its way into hospitals one day.

I agree with you Brandon. I think that if the method is to expensive and already on the market then it would be to easy to duplicate once other people see it is working. I think if you have a method that works and you are able to differentiate yourself by making it cheaper that the other security methods then you will have a great product and a successful company.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandon! I find it very interesting and comforting that the hospital you went to is doing everything they can to step up their security to ensure the safety of all of their employees and patients. With the other products out there costing so much money, it might be a benefit for you when selling your product at a cheaper price.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandon. I really like the fact that you went to a hospital to get the information you needed for this blog post and have the best answers for your interview. I really like that you care about the safety about hospitals because my idea is about safety in schools, so I feel like we can relate a lot. I also agree with our classmates, that it would be a good idea to lower the price of the product.
ReplyDeleteHey Brandon! Great post. I think it's awesome that you got a chance to speak to the board of trustees about your idea. It must be comforting to know that the board of trustees has been encountering problems about security issues. Knowing that their is a demand for your service, is a big thing that many companies can have a hard time with.
