19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

Since the only person to comment on my last post didn't go into extensive detail on what they thought about my first idea napkin, I asked friends to give me feedback.

1.) My name is Brandon Cruz and I'm a junior at the University of Florida. I'm studying business in hopes of obtaining my BSBA and working within my major. I'm very eloquent when it comes to talking about things and peers say that I'm so good at getting people to do things that I could lead a small army if I really wanted to. I grew up in a home where business played a very developmental role in my life since both of my parents have their own respective businesses. I plan on opening my own business one day in hopes of being able to live comfortably. The business I've come up with would allow me to make profit off of the work of other people. Why work for money when you can make money work for you?

2.) The service I'm offering to people is better level security for hospitals and ER clinics. A lot of hospitals across the nation don't have security past check in and that makes patients, along with staff, easily exposed to a possible outside incident. I plan on providing a security guard contracting service to hospitals across Southwest Florida in hopes of branching to other parts of Florida, and eventually across the country. Hospitals can choose how many daily/nightly guards they want on the premises. They will pay me to contract workers so they get labor without have to worry about providing them benefits of any sort since I will run benefits through my own business.

3.) The customer base is people who own and maintain hospital chains or ER clinic chains. When anything goes wrong inside hospitals people turn to those who run the hospitals. I plan to work directly with them to see how they'd like to implement my services into their buildings. Most people who own hospital chains are older so I'd have to appeal to them and give them a reason to trust a young entrepreneur, such as myself, with keeping high level security available for patients in their care. My customer base also consists of people from wealthy backgrounds since hospitals make a lot of revenue and those in charge of them probably make more money than I can dream of.

4.) Customers who I plan to appeal to will care about my service because they care about the safety of their patients. The purpose of a hospital is to leave loved ones to heal from injury and be treated carefully so applying security measures to prevent anything from happening to patients will be a great motivator for customers to give my services a try.

5.) I believe that my compassion for patients will set me apart from other people providing alternatives to hospitals regarding protection. While the point of business is to make profit, we can't just look at people as statistics. I feel that my ability to see patients and staff as more than numbers and figures will provide me an advantage in getting hospitals to provide my services on their premises.

These five elements are very influential towards reaching my goals. How can I possibly provide a service to a place like a hospital if I don't have a compassionate mindset? Knowing who you are as a person and what you have to offer will definitely bring you great opportunity when you present your idea to others.

The feedback I received from friends allowed me to look into things I hadn't thought about before. While working on contract can benefit me as an employer, I would really like to take care of my workers to ensure they are happy with the business. Another point that was brought up to me was the idea of only working with hospitals. There are plenty of other unsecured places like clinics that could use better security measures.
